The Edition hotel brand came to West Hollywood through a partnership of developers Steve Witkoff and Howard Lorber. Cefali & Associates designed the excavation for the project.

Located on the southeast side of Sunset and Doheny, excavation for the below-grade levels varied from 9 feet up to 50 feet.

A soldier pile and lagging system was used. Tiebacks braced most piles, with corner bracing at select locations to avoid obtaining easements from neighbors.

A local secant pile wall with walers and high-capacity tieback anchors supported the excavation at an existing billboard condition.
