West Hollywood Edition
Sunset Boulevard at Doheny: soldier piles, tiebacks, corner braces, and a secant pile wall for the hotel excavation.
West Hollywood, California
At the West Hollywood Edition near Sunset and Doheny, excavation for the below-grade levels varied from about 9 to 50 feet.
Cefali & Associates designed soldier pile and lagging support with tiebacks along most of the excavation. Corner bracing and a local secant pile segment addressed conditions where a typical anchored wall would not fit.
Local conditions
Corner braces avoided tieback easements at selected edges. At an existing billboard, a secant pile wall with walers and high-capacity anchors carried the local excavation load.
