Vista Monterey Soil Nails
Collett Avenue: top-down soil nail walls with soldier pile transitions at property-line constraints.
Corona, California
At Vista Monterey, a top-down retaining wall had to fit both the development excavation and the available property rights.
Cefali & Associates designed soil nail walls where nail easements were available and soldier pile walls where nails could not extend beyond the property line.
Local conditions
The tallest soil nail section reached 25 feet and used five rows of nails. Soldier pile walls continued the retention on either side where nail easements were unavailable. Both wall types received decorative rock faces required by the city.
